LAHORE – The Model Town Organised Crime Unit stated that an outlaw who had become a symbol of terror in Punjab was slain by his own accomplices during a purported confrontation with police on Tuesday.

The suspect, Rafiq alias Phaki, was engaged in scores of cases of kidnapping for ransom, murder, attempted murder, robbery, and other terrible crimes.

According to investigators, the outlaw was a paid assassin who had been engaged in other murder cases. The accused killed six people at Rehman Garden a few years ago.

He also murdered a person in Shiekhupura in cold blood and demanded Rs2.5 million from the victim’s family in order to return his body. When they refused to pay him the requested sum, he tossed the dead body into a canal.

According to authorities, he was being transported for treatment when his accomplices assaulted the officers in an attempt to get him released. The bandit was slain in the shootouts with the police when his own comrades opened fire.

During the shooting, a police vehicle was severely damaged. The outlaws fled following the shooting. The police initiated a manhunt for the fleeing thieves.
