ISLAMABAD (Channel News Pakistan) – Raoof Hasan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said the party is still not seeking a deal.
Raoof Hasan discussed the recent initiatives of PTI senior politician Azam Swati on the show Tonight with Samar Abbas. He stated that as long as Swati is still a member of the party, any acts he takes should stay within the party’s purview and not become the subject of public debate.
Raoof reaffirmed that the PTI wanted to interact with the state exclusively via legal and constitutional channels and was not looking for any backdoor arrangements. He claimed that Imran Khan would not have served two years in prison if he had desired a deal.
“Our door is open, we are capable of doing a lot, but we have never closed the doors to dialogue,” he said, adding that Imran Khan has received proposals in recent days.
In response to a different query, Raoof Hasan denied the idea that there were internal divisions inside the PTI, stating that disagreements are not the same as division.
He stated that the deadline is April 15 in reference to possible backing from Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but he made it clear that “even if Maulana does not join us, our movement will begin regardless.”
