ISLAMABAD – Pakistan stated on Sunday that the banned group IS-KP has claimed responsibility for an attack on the Pakistan embassy in Kabul.
“We have read allegations that IS-KP (Islamic State-Khorasan Province) has taken responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Embassy compound on December 2,” said the Foreign Office Spokesperson in a news statement.
Regardless, the terrorist act served as another reminder of the threat that terrorism presented to Afghanistan’s and the region’s peace and stability.
“To counter this threat, we must act decisively and with all of our combined power.” Pakistan, for its part, remains committed in its resolve to defeat terrorism,” it was said.
The embassy was attacked on Friday, with gunshots wounded a Pakistani security guard in what Islamabad described as an attempt to murder its head of mission, who remained unharmed.
According to the organisation, the attack injured at least one guard and damaged the building.
