The suspension of mobile broadband internet services beginning on Tuesday cost Pakistan’s telecom sector Rs2.49 billion, according to a report from ARY News on Friday.
Mobile broadband internet connections were down for a fourth day in a row in several regions of the country as a result of the riots brought on by the detention of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The government receives 280 million rupees per day in revenue from mobile broadband services; as a result, the suspension of such services has cost the government around 860 million rupees.
According to the All Pakistan Software Export Association, the sector lost Rs. 10 billion during the past three days.
