ISLAMABAD — After the IHC granted their release, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and ex-PTI leader Musarrat Jamshed Cheema were detained outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday.

“I’m not going to leave the party.” “I am with the party and will remain with the party,” Mr Qureshi was cited in the statement as saying.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, ruling over the case at the IHC, ordered restricted parole on Mr Qureshi, ordering his legal representation to submit an affidavit.

During today’s court sessions, Mr Qureshi’s attorneys successfully submitted the required affidavit, meeting the court’s requirements.

The PTI, on the other hand, suffered a further setback when Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema chose to cut company with Imran Khan.

Their lawyer verified the news, stating that he had separate talks with them in prison. “I am confident that they will leave the PTI as soon as they are released,” he added.

The husband-wife team had been arrested for the last 12 days in the aftermath of the May 9 demonstrations that erupted in response to the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan in a corruption case involving the Al-Qadir Trust.

Shireen Mazari, a prominent PTI leader, announced her resignation from the party as well as “active politics” after being imprisoned for the sixth time in a row, despite the fact that the IHC had ordered her release.
