President Dr Arif Alvi nominated Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court for a three-year term on Tuesday.
According to the President’s House, authorisation was granted in accordance with Article 175(A)-13 of the Pakistani Constitution.
Justice Iqbal Hameed, a former Supreme Court of Pakistan justice, comes from a family of lawyers, since both his father and grandfather were prominent jurists in pre-partition India.
In 1956, Justice Rahman was born in Dhaka, previously Dacca. He graduated as a professional lawyer in 1980 after studying LLB at the Punjab University Law College in Lahore.
