KARACHI, Pakistan — The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership has stated a strong desire for national elections to be held within 90 days. They emphasized that extending the electoral schedule beyond three months might result in a constitutional crisis in the country.

Senator Sherry Rehman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) presented these remarks during a news conference following the PPP’s central executive committee meeting. Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Nayyar Bukhari, and other party leaders were also present.

According to Sherry, the conference discussed a variety of topics, including inflation, unemployment, energy and gas bill concerns, and the flood situation.

Sherry Rehman stated that the contentious census was completed, and that there was no conflict between our statements and deeds previously or now. She also stated that postponing elections due to delimitation is incorrect.

She stated unequivocally that every member has stated that there is no rationale for postponing elections. She stated that help should be provided to flood-affected people in Punjab, and it is also stated in the People’s Party manifesto that every oppressed class has rights.

According to Sherry, the caretaker administration should not become a ‘chairtaker’ government. The caretaker administration does not have the authority to modify the constitution. She also stated that the party’s membership is being established.

She stated that another meeting of the Central Executive Committee is planned for Lahore to discuss future initiatives.
