LAHORE (Channel News Pakistan) In the Pakistan Bar Council elections, the Ahsan Bhoon group beat the Hamid Khan group decisively in Punjab.

The Ahsan Bhoon group gained eight of the eleven seats, while the Hamid Khan group received only two. The outcome of the 11th seat in Punjab is still awaited.

Federal Law Ministers Azam Nazir Tarar and Ahsan Bhoon commended attorneys for their assistance, describing the result as a success for the constitution, rule of law, and democracy.

A total of 25 candidates ran for the 11 Punjab seats, with 75 members of the Punjab Bar Council voting. According to unconfirmed statistics, the Bhoon group secured 8 seats, while the Hamid Khan group received 2.

The chosen members of the Bhoon group are Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Bhoon, Tahir Nasrullah Waraich, Amir Saeed Raan, Pir Masood Chishti, Saqib Akram Gondal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, and Syed Qalb-e-Hassan.

The chosen members of the Hamid Khan group are Salman Akram Raja and Shafqat Mehmood Chauhan. Salman Akram Raja stressed that their fight for judicial independence will continue.

The official results for the 11th Punjab seat will be released on December 22.
