ISLAMABAD (Channel NewsPakistan)- Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Bushra Bibi will challenge the findings in the Toshakhana-II case in Islamabad High Court on Monday.
They have developed the appeals, which will be filed by a team of attorneys before IHC on Monday.
According to the appeals, the trial court relied on Inamullah Shah’s statement, which had already been rejected, stating that basing a verdict on testimony from a dismissed witness is legally unsustainable.
The court also relied on an approver’s statement, which the appellants believe violates the law.
The petitioners argue that the prosecution failed to build a case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Barrister Salman Safdar will submit two separate appeals in the Islamabad High Court on Monday, seeking the annulment of the Toshakhana-II ruling.
The appeals further argue that repeated sentences cannot be imposed for the same conduct and that the Special Central Court lacks jurisdiction to consider the case.
It is also asserted that Sohaib Abbasi was improperly appointed as an approver.
The appellants argue that the previous governing couple properly retained the Bulgari set in compliance with Toshakhana regulations.
They argue that the lawsuit was filed without a sufficient investigation and is motivated by political persecution.
