ISLAMABAD (Channel News Pakistan) In the contentious tweets case, Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were convicted to ten years in jail each by an Islamabad district court.

District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka delivered the decision in the case involving Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha.

Both accused boycotted the court hearings today, despite prior rulings from the high court instructing them to cross-examine prosecution witnesses by this date.

Barrister Fahad, Usman Rana, and Barrister Mansoor Azam stood for the prosecution, while State Counsel Taimoor Janjua represented the defendants.

The prosecution produced five witnesses in the case. The prosecution also filed a challan that exceeded 30 pages.

Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were accused of supporting the agendas of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and other illegal groups, as well as propagating anti-state propaganda.

The prosecution produced many tweets from Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha as evidence.

Imaan Mazari’s speech, declared anti-state, was also put before the court.

The court condemned both accused to five years in jail under Section 9 of the PECA Act, and ten years in prison each under Section 10.
