ISLAMABAD (A News ) In the narcotics and terrorist case against him, senior journalist Matiullah Jan has contested the trial court’s ruling. Matiullah Jan reportedly appealed the trial court’s decision to the Islamabad High Court.

Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq filed the appeal, which challenges the trial court’s decision to keep the narcotics accusations in the case. The petition asks for the narcotics charges to be withdrawn and contends that the Anti-Terrorism Court’s ruling should be revoked.

Matiullah Jan said in his appeal that there is no video or CCTV footage to back up the drug seizure allegations, stressing that video proof is necessary in drug recovery cases per higher court rulings.

Notably, Matiullah Jan’s appeal to have the narcotics charges dropped was denied by the Anti-Terrorism Court two days ago, and the Islamabad High Court is currently contesting this ruling.
