ISLAMABAD (Web Desk)- Sources claim that the rumors circulating about a deal being made between the establishment and the PTI are completely incorrect since the previous ruling party has been trying to demand concessions following the May 9 fiasco.

They further claimed that Muhammad Ali Durrani, who served in Shaukat Aziz’s federal cabinet under Pervez Musharraf, created the meetings he had.

In this regard, the sources pointed out that the PTI was attempting to create the appearance that ties with the establishment were stabilizing by working out an agreement with some groups disseminating rumors that individuals responsible for the chaos on May 9 would receive leniency.

They continued by saying that the main objective of the campaign was an effort to gain political advantage prior to the allocation of tickets for the 2018 general elections.

The military leadership, led by Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, had made it plain shortly after the violent actions that the architects, executors, and controllers of the May 9 incident would have to face the law.

In reaction to what has been published by some elements on mainstream and social media as well as their words – directly or indirectly – the sources stated that those who engineered the May 9 events won’t be forgiven.

The military leadership had declared shortly after the May 9 incident that it was time to punish the perpetrators of the violence who had mounted the politically motivated and hate-fueled rebellion against the state and its institutions in order to carry out their evil plan to wreak havoc across the nation.

The top brass was quoted by the ISPR as saying, “In this regard, attempts to create distortions and attempts to take refuge behind imaginary and mirage human rights violations to create smoke screen for hiding the ugly faces of all involved, are absolutely futile and do not stand the abundantly collected irrefutable evidences.

The ISPR quoted the army commander as saying, “Hostile forces and their abettors have been working hard to create societal division and confusion through fake news and propaganda, but all such designs will continue to be defeated with the full support of the nation.”

It is important to note that the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case was the subject of several reports both before and after his conviction that he may be granted permission to travel overseas and that certain people, including his wife Bushra Bibi, were working to make this happen.

But it was also clear at the time that the rumors had been spread in an effort to mend fences with the establishment and win favor for the struggling PTI leader.
