Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of the Pakistan People’s Party and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was posthumously granted the country’s highest civil honor, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, during a ceremony at the Presidency on Pakistan Day.
On the 85th anniversary of Pakistan Day, a ceremony was organized at the President House in Islamabad to celebrate Pakistanis who have made outstanding contributions in various fields. Former Prime Minister Bhutto was given the Nishan-e-Pakistan for his exceptional contribution to the country. During the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari gave the prize to Sanam Bhutto, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s daughter. Bhutto’s grandson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, granddaughter Aseefa Bhutto, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, and others also attended the event. ZAB ruled Pakistan at a pivotal juncture in its history, following the fall of Dhaka in 1971. A military revolution ousted him from power in July 1977, and he was hanged on April 4, 1979, in a questionable murder case.
