Aminul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and Imran Khawaja, deputy chairman of the ICC, arrived in Lahore with the intention of negotiating the present T20 World Cup dispute.

LAHORE (Channel News Pakistan) – The delegations from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have arrived in Lahore, where discussions are expected on the ongoing dispute related to the T20 World Cup.

ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja was received at Lahore Airport by Adviser to PCB Chairman, Aamer Mir, while BCB President Aminul Islam was welcomed by Pakistan Super League Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, who extended a warm welcome to the visiting dignitaries.

During their visit, Imran Khawaja and Aminul Islam are scheduled to meet Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The BCB president is also expected to hold additional meetings with key stakeholders.

Bangladesh was recently disqualified from the T20 World Cup by the ICC, thus the visit comes at a crucial moment.

Bangladesh has previously asked that its matches be moved to Sri Lanka and refused to send its squad to India, citing security concerns. The request was denied by the ICC.

Pakistan responded by voicing support for Bangladesh and declaring that it will boycott any T20 World Cup matches featuring India.

According to sources, the discussions in Lahore would probably center on settling disputes, talking about security issues, and looking at potential ways to reduce tensions before the tournament.
