SLAMABAD: President Arif Usmani and Chairman NBP Zubyr Soomro of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) were reinstated by a division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday.
In response to petitions contesting their nominations, a single-member bench of the high court ordered Usmani and Soomro’s removal from their positions last month.
Miscellaneous challenges against the single-member panel’s order to remove the two people were considered by a two-judge bench consisting of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq.
At the high court, Attorney General Khalid Javed represented the finance minister, while senior lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan represented his client, Usmani.
According to the attorney general, the single-member bench’s judgement had an impact on Usmani and Somroo.
The Attorney General stated that there was no problem with an advertising for the position of NBP president being published.
The court issued notifications to the case’s respondents and delayed the hearing.
