Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi feels the US should treat Pakistan with the respect it deserves.
Despite the fact that the US has asked Pakistan for assistance in halting the Taliban’s progress as US forces leave Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden has yet to speak with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan about the matter.
However, Qureshi does not believe Pakistan should be concerned about not receiving a phone call. According to Qureshi, if the US indicates disengagement with Pakistan, it puts them at a disadvantage as well.
He claimed that tensions between Pakistan and the United States were being conveyed.
The foreign minister expressed confidence that Pakistan and the United States share similar goals.
“America and we both desire stability in Afghanistan. We agree with the United States that there is no military solution to Afghanistan. They argue that a solution should be reached through extensive discussions, and we agree “Qureshi said.
“Let the Taliban and Afghan government sit down and discuss their destiny together,” he added, adding that Pakistan is doing all possible to convince the Taliban.
He stated that Pakistan is acting in the interests of its security, survival, and peace and stability.
The FM also addressed Kashmir, claiming that the Indian government exploits the subject for domestic political gain.
“India has failed to win Kashmiris’ hearts,” he remarked.
