The Sindh government’s nine-day coronavirus lockdown will end on August 9, according to the National Command and Operations Centre, which commended the province’s efforts to combat the epidemic on Saturday.
Following a joint session chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and attended by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, Gen Hamood, and other NCOC team members, NCOC released a statement.
According to the statement, the coronavirus situation in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, “was discussed at length.”
It emphasised the need for “greater coordination” and “increased engagement at all levels,” according to the report.
Sindh has opted to implement the forum’s non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI)-based guidelines, which were released earlier this week for 13 high-infection-rate cities, including Karachi and Hyderabad.
The issue of Sindh’s schools reopening and remaining examinations will be discussed at the Inter Provincial Education Ministerial Conference’s forthcoming meeting (IPEMC).
The conference also recognised the importance of putting a special focus on safety precautions in the run-up to Muharram and when the lockdown is lifted on August 9.
To stop the virus from spreading, it was decided to use “smart lockdowns” in high-prevalence regions.
