ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Acting Chief Justice, Umar Ata Bandial, has taken note of the arrest of a private company’s CEO, Saif-ur-Rehman, from the Supreme Court’s premises in the Mudaraba fraud case, and has requested clarification from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) detained Saif-ur-Rehman in the Mudaraba fraud case earlier today, after the Islamabad High Court denied his bail application.
On behalf of Saif-ur-Rehman, lawyer Latif Khosa appeared in court and stated that his client had applied to the Supreme Court for pre-arrest bail.
“The NAB vehicle collided with my assistant lawyer’s car, and NAB authorities detained my client on court grounds,” Khosa stated.
The incident was noted by the acting CJP, who sought clarity from the NAB on the arrest.
The Supreme Court has also ordered Saif-ur-Rehman Khan to appear in court.
In his remarks, the acting CJP requested the NAB to explain why the arrest was made on court grounds.
