KARACHI, Pakistan — Following a period of extreme heat in Karachi, heavy rains inundated the city, turning roads and streets into ponds on Friday.
According to reports, people of Karachi who had been suffering from the scorching heat were relieved by the rain, which made the temperature comfortable.
Meanwhile, due to standing water on the roadways, transportation has been significantly hampered.
The Nagan Chowrangi flyover was flooded, and it was closed to traffic. There was no sign of drainage. On Defence, Clifton, Shahra-e-Faisal, and University Road, water had gathered. Saadi Town had the most rain, at 41 millimetres. However, due to the persistent rainfall in Karachi, there is a risk of urban flooding.
The heavy rains that followed the heat, on the other hand, altered the city’s temperature and lessened the severity of the heat. After the rains, knee-deep water collected in several locations, and electricity was also interrupted in various areas.
In most sections of the city, the power supply has been turned off. K-feeders Electric’s tripped in large numbers. Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Shah Faisal Colony all lost power.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Administrator, went throughout the city after the rain. He went through the city’s drainage system and told the employees to get the water off the roadways as soon as possible.
