Babar Azam has risen to the top of Pakistan’s list of T20 century makers.

LAHORE, — Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, became the country’s greatest T20 centurion on Thursday, striking his 6th T20 century in Central Punjab’s National T20 Cup match against Northern.

Babar blasted three sixes and stroked 11 shots to the fence to help his team reach 200/2 in 20 overs with an unbeaten 105 off 63. Babar now has six T20 centuries to his name, the most by a Pakistani batsman in the format.

The Pakistan captain, who seems ready to shatter more records in the future, scored his sixth century in the format, the most by any Pakistani player. Only six players from all around the world have amassed more.

He’s also the ninth batter in history to record six T20 hundreds. Chris Gayle, a West Indian, has the most centuries, 22, with 22. Chris Gayle, Michael Klinger, David Warner, Aaron Finch, Luke Wright, and Brendon McCullum are among the names on the list, with 22, 8, 8, 8, 7, and 7 T20 hundreds, respectively.

He now has more T20 hundreds than South Africa’s Ab De Villiers and Kevin Pieterson, India’s Virat Kohli, West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Martin Guptill, and Ross Taylor, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, England’s Jason Roy and Alex Hales, and a slew of other players.
