DUBAI — The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the 14 countries that will hold ICC men’s white-ball competitions from 2024 through 2031 on Tuesday. The Champions Trophy has returned, and Pakistan will host it in 2025.
Two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups, four ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, and two ICC Men’s Champions Trophy tournaments will be hosted by 11 Full Members and three Associate Members.
For the first time, the United States and Namibia will host an ICC World Cup match. While Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and Zimbabwe have all hosted big tournaments in the last decade, they will continue to do so in the coming decade.
A Board sub-committee led by Martin Snedden, comprising Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Skerritt, picked the hosts through a competitive bidding procedure. The ICC Board of Directors adopted the recommendations of the committee, which worked with ICC management to perform a comprehensive examination of each offer.Early next year, a similar method will be used to pick the hosts for the ICC Women’s and U19s competitions for the next cycle.
“We are thrilled to have completed this competitive bidding procedure for the first time for ICC tournaments,” stated ICC Chair Greg Barclay. The fact that 14 Members are hosting eight events reflects our sport’s genuinely global nature, and I’d like to thank every Member who filed a bid and congratulate the successful bidders.
It’s amazing to be returning to so many past hosts, but what’s even more exciting is the nations that will host ICC tournaments for the first time, including the United States, which is a key growth market for us. This allows us to strengthen our ties with traditional cricket fans while also reaching out to new followers throughout the world.
“We got a range of great offers to host the ICC Men’s events in the next cycle,” stated Martin Snedden, Chair of the ICC Hosting Sub-Committee. We were committed to guaranteeing a diverse range of hosts in order to line with the ICC strategic goal of global expansion, and we now have 14 nations on board to help us achieve that long-term goal.
Ricky Skerritt, President of Cricket West Indies and a member of the ICC Board of Directors, said: “The success of CWI and USA Cricket’s combined bid will be a major boost for our sport. It provides a critical strategic opportunity to promote and grow cricket in North America and the Caribbean, as well as allied economic activities. I’d want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the ICC, USA Cricket, and CWI who contributed to the 2024 venue selection
decision.”
The ICC will now work closely with Members to finalise plans before awarding the tournaments to chosen hosts. A total of 28 bids were made by 17 members to host the eight ICC Men’s White-Ball Events
