LAHORE, Pakistan -Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) head Hafiz Saad Rizvi was freed from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison on Thursday.

According to a TLP spokeswoman, Rizvi will head to the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Mosque following his release, where a huge number of workers have gathered to greet the party’s leader.

The Punjab government withdrew TLP Leader Saad Rizvi’s name off the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 earlier this week.

It is worth noting that, on the suggestion of the Interior Ministry, the government revoked the outlawed status of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on Sunday.

“The Federal Government is happy to remove the name of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan from the First Schedule of the said Act as a banned organisation for the purposes of the said Act,” the notice stated.

The decision to lift the ban on TLP was made in accordance with a deal reached between TLP and the government, which concluded a 10-day impasse between the two parties.

The CM had given preliminary permission to the summary before sending it to the Ministry of Interior for a final judgement on the subject through distribution.

After obtaining the summary to modify the TLP’s status, the Ministry of Interior forwarded it to the federal cabinet.

The Punjab administration has previously deleted the names of 48 TLP workers from the fourth schedule as part of the agreement reached with the TLP.

On November 2, the government began executing the TLP agreement, releasing more than 800 TLP supporters who had been detained across Punjab.
