KARACHI, Pakistan – The long-awaited dream of Karachi residents will come true today as Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurates the Green Line Bus service (Friday)
In a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in Karachi on Thursday, Governor Sindh Dr Imran Ismail remarked that the PPP government in Sindh has not delivered a single bus to Karachi in the previous 13 years.
Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development, announced that plans have been finalised for Prime Minister Imran Khan to inaugurate the Green Line Bus today.
He stated that the trial operation would run from December 11 to 24, but that commercial activities will begin on December 25 and the full scale operation will begin on January 10.
He said that all of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s huge projects for Karachi are being developed and would be finished soon, and that 40 BRT buses will arrive from China in March to help the mega metropolis get up and running as soon as possible.
He stated that the Ministry of Planning has received the amended PC-I for the K-IV project, which will be authorised in the coming month and new contracts will be given.
“Through the K-IV project, we hope to supply 260 million gallons of water to Karachi, and the project will be completed by August or September 2023.” Three Mehmoodabad nullahs have been built and will be inaugurated in the coming days.
“On the other two drains, Orangi and Gujjar, 50 percent of the work has been done, and they will be inaugurated before summer next year.” Encroachments were removed, roads were built, and storm drains were installed as part of the work on these drains.
