ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Prime Minister Imran Khan praised Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stance that insulting the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is a breach of religious freedom rather than an expression of creative freedom.
In a telephonic chat with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Binali Yilmaz remarked that in his UN General Assembly speeches, he has consistently underlined the alarming growth in Islamophobia and related intolerance, pointing to its grave consequences.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Pakistan and Russia’s bilateral relationship is improving, with a greater emphasis on trade and commercial links as well as energy cooperation.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project as soon as possible.
Both presidents agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, strengthen high-level exchanges, and maintain close communication on Afghanistan-related issues.
The PM emphasised the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan for regional stability.
He stated that Afghanistan is suffering grave humanitarian and economic problems, and that the international community’s assistance for the Afghan people at this crucial moment is necessary.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the significance of releasing Afghanistan’s financial assets in order to meet the country’s severe needs.
Imran Khan expressed his excitement for President Putin’s visit to Pakistan, as well as his own trip to Russia at a later date.
