Reuters reports that The deadline for developers to implement an in-app account termination method has been extended by Apple until June 30. The adjustment, which was announced in October of last year, was supposed to take effect on January 31. In addition to extending the conditions for in-app account cancellation, Apple has expanded the standards that enable developers to offer payment options other than in-app purchases for apps that provide real-time person-to-person services between two people. The guidelines are currently in effect until June 30.
Apple said last year that developers who publish their products on the App Store will be forced to provide a means for consumers to remove their accounts. The modification was first disclosed as part of Apple’s new developer guidelines, which were presented at WWDC 2021. It was also designed particularly for apps that allow users to establish new accounts.
According to Apple, the change will be effective for app submissions beginning January 31. However, the business has now prolonged that step by five months to allow developers more time to implement the account termination requirement within their apps.
Apple stated at the time of its original announcement that developers would need to “initiate deletion” of user accounts from their apps. The term “initiate” was thought to enable developers to provide users with alternatives to permitting total deletion at first sight.
However, Apple has now made it plain clear that developers must provide a means for users to permanently delete their accounts through their applications.
“Providing only the ability to temporarily disable or deactivate an account is insufficient.” People should be allowed to remove their accounts as well as their personal data, according to the conditions outlined in the most recent notification.
