Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema is expected to resign.

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema is expected to resign following Prime Minister Imran Khan’s fall by a no-confidence resolution.

According to people close to the situation, once a new prime minister takes the oath of office, the governor of Punjab will retire.

Governor Punjab’s spokesman, however, rejected rumours that he had resigned, saying that he had gone for Islamabad to attend a meeting of the PTI core committee and that a final decision will be made after consultation with the party’s leadership.

Following the departure of Chuadhry Muhammad Sarwar from the position, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema took the oath of office on April 3.
