On Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders announced that the party will file a court complaint against the issuance of a new passport to former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Fawad Chaudhry told the media in Islamabad on Wednesday, flanked by former energy minister Hammad Azhar, that the resignation notification should be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan right away (ECP).

He also praised the public for its outpouring of support, adding that the protest would be held every Saturday after Isha prayer.

“We do not want to go down the road of confrontation, but the country must go down the road of elections,” he said, adding that no one is willing to become a minister in this government.

He went on to say that Maryam Nawaz is claiming that the people are overjoyed with Imran Khan’s ouster, and that they should hold elections today to see how happy people are.

Chaudhry went on to say that the PTI’s entire assembly resigned from the National Assembly, so why is the assembly staff not accepting the resignations? If the resignations are not accepted, the crisis will grow so large in four to five weeks that no one will be able to control it.
