On the suggestion of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Dr Arif Alvi has approved the formation of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).

The CCI, which would be chaired by the Prime Minister and consist the chief ministers of four provinces as well as three federal ministers, would be approved by the president under Article 153 of the constitution.

The Council of Common Interests would also include three federal ministers who were selected by the Prime Minister.
