SIALKOT: Punjab police detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar and several party activists on Saturday, ahead of a planned demonstration in the area.
The cops used heavy gear to raid the jalsagah in preparation for a public gathering in the city. At the venue, a fight broke out between PTI employees and cops.
Police stormed the PTI public meeting site, stating that the district administration had refused the party permission to conduct a public assembly at CTI Ground in Sialkot.
In response to PTI workers’ resistance, police used tear gas shelling and baton charges to disperse them.
Meanwhile, Usman Dar has stated that he supports the PTI chairman and that his affection for Imran Khan would not be harmed if he is imprisoned. He reaffirmed that the former premier will attend the demonstration regardless of the circumstances.
According to Imran Khan, he and Shaukat Tarin alerted the ‘Neutrals’ about the ‘plot’ against his administration. Imran Khan told a large crowd in Mardan that he is calling on everyone to attend the Islamabad march for a revolution, not for politics.
Imran Khan has requested that the present administration announce the date of the country’s general elections as soon as possible.
