LAHORE – On Saturday, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) retracted his invitation to the government for negotiations and made it clear that his earlier statement was just intended to stress the seriousness of the situation.
Speaking to the parliamentary party of KP, PTI Chief alleged that although Ishaq Dar, the country’s finance minister, and Miftah Ismail, his predecessor, are having a public argument, Pakistan’s economy is spinning out of control and the nation is headed for default.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and its supporters have only succeeded in getting respite from their own corruption charges, according to the former premier who was critical of the current administration.
The PTI Chief also declared that elections will be held this month after dissolving the legislatures of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
To quell political unrest in the nation, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) indicated willingness to engage in discussions with the Imran Khan-led PTI without any prerequisites earlier in the day.
In a news conference following a party meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to examine Mr. Khan’s offer of conditional discussions on the election date, PML-N leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and Rana Sanaullah made the announcement.
