MUZAFFARABAD – According to unconfirmed results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) grabbed the lead in two districts during the second round of local government elections in Azad and Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Polling stations were set up in four districts of the Poonch division: Bagh, Rawlakot, Haveli, and Sudhanoti.
The Imran Khan-led party won in Bagh and Sudhanoti districts, but trailed in Rawlako and Haveli.
The PTI won 12 of the 28 seats in Bagh district, the Pakistan Muslim Conference four, the PPP three, and the PML-N and independent candidates two each.
In Sudhnoti, the PTI won 11 of the 19 seats, followed by the PML-N with four and independent candidates with two.
The PML-N holds the most district council seats in Haveli, with six, followed by the PPP with four and the PTI with one.
In Rawlakot, the PTI and the PML-N each won eight of the 29 council seats. With six seats, PPP is in third place.
Meanwhile, the third and last round of the polls will be place on December 8 in all three districts of Mirpur Division, namely Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber. A total of 1.2 million registered voters will use their voting rights.
