PESHAWAR – Following the change of chief secretary, the federal government on Thursday dismissed Moazzam Jah Ansari and nominated Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, a Grade 21 officer, as the new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, citing an increase in terrorist events in the province (IGP).

The interior ministry has also made a statement on the subject. The new IGP was appointed under the Civil Service Act of 1973. Akhtar Hayat has previously worked for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
