After burying settlements in the Kasur district, the River Sutlej flooded other villages in Okara and Bahawalnagar as it moved downstream.
The Sutlej River was in medium flood near Sulemanki earlier on Sunday, according to the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), although it was expected to fall. The low flood level was below all other significant rivers.
In Ravi, close to the Shahdara neighbourhood of Lahore, the water also subsided, eliminating the threat of flooding.
The Sutlej and Ravi rivers’ catchment areas in northern Indian states had been experiencing torrential rainfall for days when the middle part of the country began to experience flooding.
