Bushra Bibi detained in court: The court also imposed a punishment of Rs1 million on Imran Khan and half a million on his wife: Directs the government to seize control of Al-Qadir University and confiscate its land.
The Accountability Court on Friday sentenced former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to four years in prison and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in prison after convicting them in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.
AC Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who delivered the decision from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, also fined Imran Khan Rs1 million and Bushra Bibi Rs500,000. If the fines are not paid, the convicted will be sentenced to an additional six and three months in jail, respectively.
Bushra Bibi was arrested shortly after the verdict was announced.
The court noted that Bushra Bibi supported her husband’s “illegal activities” by urging the federal government to seize control of Al-Qadir University and confiscate its land.
According to the court’s brief order, Imran Khan Khan has been convicted of “corrupt practices” and “misuse of authority,” while Bushra has been convicted of “involvement in illegal activities.”
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present in the courtroom. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Salman Akram Raja, and several other attorneys were also present.
The team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), led by Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, was also present in the Adiala prison courtroom.
