LAHORE, Pakistan — After three alterations, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the final roster for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2021 on Friday.
The national selectors approved Pakistan’s team, according to a press statement published by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The tournament will be place in the United Arab Emirates from October 17 to November 14.
The selectors have made three changes to the team that was announced on September 4, taking into account player performances and form.
Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali have replaced Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain, respectively, according to PCB’s final 15 alterations, while Fakhar Zaman, who was initially designated as a travel reserve, has changed places with Khushdil Shah.
Following medical advice, Sohaib Maqsood’s membership in the team will be decided. Following undergoing MRI scans for the lower back after the National T20 encounter against Northern on October 6, the top-order batsman missed Thursday’s Punjab derby against Central Punjab.
“After evaluating player performances in the highly competitive National T20 and consulting with team management, we have decided to select Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman, and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021,” PCB Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim stated. The three in-form players provide a lot of experience and talent to the team, as well as additional stability, balance, and strength. Azam, Khushdil, and Hasnain must be upset about losing out, but they still have a lot to contribute in their careers. They are on our radar for the future, since there will be a lot more cricket to be played after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and in the run-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
“I’m happy with the high level of intensity and quality of cricket that we’ve seen in the National T20.” It has not only provided the players with good match practise in the lead-up to the UAE competition, but it has also allowed us to closely monitor the players’ progress and make choices in the best interests of the team for what will be a competitive tournament,” the head selector stated.
