ISLAMABAD – An accountability court on Tuesday accepted the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the New York property case.

While announcing the reserved verdict, the court rejected the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) appeal, stating that the anti-corruption watchdog would be unable to arrest the former president.

Earlier in the day, Zardari’s lawyer, Farooq H. Naek, asked the court to grant his client permanent bail.

Responding to the counsel, the NAB prosecutor stated that because the former president’s arrest warrant had not yet been issued, the petition should be denied.

Talking to media after the court appearance, Asif Ali Zardari said he is hopeful for in-house change, adding that he had told from day one about this government s inability to handle national affairs.

Time has proven my stance that the elected people of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are all ineligible, he added.

The former president further said that the people are suffering from different issues and the government is incapable of doing anything.
