ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan wrapped up interviews for the position of Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Separate meetings with the prime minister were held by lawyers Sultan, Khawaja Farooq, Tanveer Ilyas, and Azhar Sadiq.
PM Imran Khan reportedly questioned the contenders about their plans for tourism, hydropower, mining, health, education, and development projects, according Pakistani sources. All four candidates spoke about their goals for Azad Kashmir.
AJK president Barrister Sultan Mahmood told the media that there is no number game and that everyone is unified, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has the authority to make choices.
Chaudhry Tanveer Illyas, on the other hand, stated that the party is still consulting on special seats, adding that a decision on the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and other positions has yet to be made. He stated that they will carry out the duties assigned to him by the party chairman.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Farooq stated that different problems and special seats were discussed with the party chairman. In AJK, he added, there is a need to concentrate on tourism and other industries. Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to address the Legislative Assembly on August 5, according to Khawaja Farooq.
