Shahbaz Sharif, enraged that his AJK polling plan has been neglected, has threatened to resign from the PML-N president, according to a report.

According to a Daily Jang article published Friday, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has threatened to resign from the party leadership after his strategy for the Azad Kashmir elections was ignored, culminating in the party’s humiliating loss.

Despite having ruled the area for five years, the PML-N came in third place in the July 25 elections, with the PTI winning the most seats and the PPP coming in second with 11 seats.

Maryam Nawaz, Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, spearheaded the party’s campaign in AJK, holding numerous rallies that drew big crowds. However, the party only managed to get six seats out of a total of 45.

According to the Daily Jang, Shehbaz Sharif is furious that his political plan is being ignored and has threatened to resign as party president.

However, sources inside the PML-N have neither denied nor verified the allegation, but political insiders claim that Hamza Shahbaz, the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, has reportedly prevented his father from stepping down.
“Hamza has told Shahbaz that he will discuss this with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.”
Maryam Nawaz is also expected to stay inactive for at least a year, according to reports.
