Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has called two crucial meetings for today. The first is to address national security concerns, and the second is to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
Both sessions at PM House will be attended by federal ministries and top military officers.
At 3 p.m., there will be a national security meeting, followed by an Afghanistan meeting at 5 p.m. Both sessions will be attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, and top military personnel.
The situation in Indian-controlled Kashmir will be examined during the national security meeting.
According to reports, important national security decisions are anticipated to be made.
PM Khan stated it is critical to understand what national security is and that it is more than simply defence when he spoke at the Islamabad Security Dialogue in March of this year.
“National security also includes non-traditional concerns like as climate change and food security, which pose a danger to Pakistan’s overall security,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said after launching Pakistan’s first-ever two-day security discussion.
The idea of national security, according to the prime minister, has to be expanded. “Common citizen security is one of the most critical concerns,” the PM had stated.
The meeting on the Afghan issue comes as National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf and Inter-Services Intelligence Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed visit the United States to discuss Pak-US relations as well as the Afghan problem.
The US should stay involved in the Afghan crisis until a political solution is found, according to the security adviser.
The conference will examine the state of peace in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan’s related policy, according to sources.
