In the midst of heavy security, Pakistan observes Youm-e-Ashura with national mourning processions.

Pakistan is commemorating the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) with full solemnity on Youm-e-Ashura, Muharram 10, under strict security today (Thursday).

This is the country’s second Ashura, this time in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak.

To avert any unforeseen incidents, the government has shut down mobile services in key cities throughout the nation, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, and Sukkur.

Allama Shahenshah Naqvi will address the major parade in Karachi, which will begin from Nishtar Park and conclude at the Hussainian Iranian at Kharadar.

The procession’s participants will worship at Tibet Centre, and all of MA Jinnah’s connected roads have been closed to ensure the procession’s safety.

In Hyderabad and Jhang, processions will begin at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. in Faisalabad, 11 a.m. in Gujranwala and Rohri, and 12 p.m. in Sukkur and Khairpur.

The processions began at 8 a.m. in Quetta and 7:30 a.m. in Dera Ismail Khan.

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mourning processions have also been developed to prevent the transmission of coronavirus as the number of cases in the nation rises owing to the pandemic’s fourth wave.

According to Radio Pakistan, tight security measures have been put in place, and all security-related departments have been notified to avert any untoward incidents during the mourning processions.
