DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — While bolstering the players’ morale, Pakistan captain Babar Azam noted that the team’s setback against Australia was heartbreaking, but that they must learn from their mistakes.
Babar Azam told the squad members in the locker area that they should not point their fingers at anyone. He went on to say that our team’s togetherness should not be shattered.
“As a team, we failed to provide our best in the semi-final against Australia,” he said, “but as a captain, I will back everyone and thank you for your good performance during the tournament.”
Babar Azam went on to show his faith in each player and urged them to keep the momentum going in the upcoming series.
After Australia defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the reaction was swift.
In Dubai, Australia were chasing 177 for win and were 96-5 when Stoinis (40) and Wade (41), who smashed three consecutive sixes in his 41, put up 81 to finish the match with one over to spare.
David Warner batted for 49 runs before being caught behind by leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who finished with four wickets. The final will be held in Dubai on Sunday.
