Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in the first T20 match.

DHAKA, Bangladesh — Pakistan recovered from early setbacks in their pursuit to defeat Bangladesh by four wickets on Friday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

After being down to 24/4, Khushdil Shah’s 34-ball knock enabled Pakistan recover from the early blows to defeat the hosts.

Pakistani captain Babar Azam scored eight runs, while Mohammad Rizwan scored eleven. In the match, Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik failed to score a run.

Bangladesh, who chose to bat first, also got off to a rough start, losing three wickets for 15 runs until Afif Hossain steadied the hosts with 36 from 34 balls. Nurul Hasan scored 28 runs off 22 balls, and Mahedi Hasan added an undefeated 30 runs off 17 balls.

Mohammad Wasim, the visitors’ right-arm pacer, took 2-24.

Pakistan has rested star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi for the first game of the three-match series and has replaced him with Mohammad Wasim Jr. Haider Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, and Khushdil Shah have also been named starters.
