Pakistan has decided not to join the US Democracy Summit.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan said on Wednesday that it will not attend a US summit on democracy.

The Democracy Virtual Summit is set to take place on December 9 and 10, according to the details. The United States has not asked China or Russia to join the meeting.

“We are appreciative to the United States for asking Pakistan to join the Summit on Democracy,” stated a State Department spokeswoman. Pakistan is a very active democracy with an independent judiciary, a robust civil society, and a free press. We are determined to further developing democracy, eradicating corruption, and preserving and promoting all people’ human rights.”

According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesman, Pakistan has undertaken a wide variety of reforms in recent years to promote these aims. These measures have had a favourable impact. We appreciate our relationship with the United States, which we aim to strengthen bilaterally.

“We are in contact with the United States on a variety of matters and feel that we may be able to handle this problem at an opportune time in the future,” the official added. Meanwhile, Pakistan will continue to support all efforts to strengthen dialogue, play a constructive role, and promote international collaboration in order to achieve mutual goals.
