KARACHI – Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, stated on Friday that bringing modernisation to Karachi will be impossible unless the city’s management structure is overhauled.The Prime Minister made these words during the inauguration of the Green Line bus in Karachi. Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Federal Minister Asad Umar, and Javed Qureshi were among the leaders that attended the occasion.


The Prime Minister went on to say that Karachi was a city of lights. We watched as the city of lights decayed. The local government has never considered introducing a public transportation system.

He also stated that the government will soon implement modernisation in Karachi, adding that the city will soon be able to reach abodes of wealth and success. He went on to say that China has a modern system, and that Tehran, despite severe constraints, is a modern metropolis. No PSDP funds are sent to Tehran. On its own, it brought in $500 million.

It is important to note that the project, which cost 35.5 billion rupees to construct, is a significant present from the federal government to the people of Sindh, particularly Karachi citizens.

The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System project would provide contemporary transit services to 135 thousand people every day in Karachi’s western and central districts, making access to the city’s Central Business District simple and safe.

This service would consist of 80 hybrid buses, with fares ranging from Rs15 to Rs55. Passengers can purchase tickets using a smartphone application, as well as debit and credit cards.

The Green Line Bus service will be available for a limited time till December 25. Between Surjani Town and Numaish Chowrangi, this project links 22 stations.

On the request of Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the project was implemented by the Ministry of Planning and Development through Sindh Infrastructure Development Company.
