Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasises the need of a robust and deeper Pakistan-US relationship.

ISLAMABAD– Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Saturday that a stronger and deeper connection between Pakistan and the US is mutually beneficial and essential for the region’s peace, security, and development.

He told a four-member US Senate delegation in Islamabad today that Pakistan appreciates its long-standing relationship with the US and is dedicated to expanding it in all fields, particularly in the economic dimension.

He hoped that the Congressional delegation’s visit will assist to improve mutual understanding and establish deeper human-to-human connections.

In response to the shifting situation in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a stronger partnership between Pakistan and the United States in order to achieve their shared goals of peace, stability, and economic progress. He emphasised the importance of providing immediate assistance to the Afghan people by taking all necessary steps to avoid a humanitarian disaster and economic collapse.

Imran Khan also highlighted the importance of closer cooperation to address the security threats including terrorism in the region.

Imran Khan warned the US delegation about the ongoing appalling human rights violations in Indian unlawfully occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying the RSS-inspired BJP government’s radical policies are a threat to regional peace and security. He stated that the United States must have a role in maintaining regional peace and stability. Pakistan, for its part, is ready to adopt steps that would strengthen the region’s peace, stability, and prosperity provided India creates the enabling atmosphere, he added.

Senators from the United States expressed their gratitude to Pakistan for its recent assistance in the evacuation of American citizens and others from Afghanistan. They reiterated their commitment to a stable and broad-based bilateral partnership between Pakistan and the United States.

Both the US and Pakistan, according to the group, should make concerted efforts to increase trade, investment, and economic relations.
