KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — In the limited-overs series, which begins Monday, captain Babar Azam aims to keep Pakistan’s winning streak going against a virus-ravaged West Indies.
Three West Indies players tested positive for coronavirus in Karachi and were ruled out of the Twenty20 series: left-arm fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell, allrounder Roston Chase, and allrounder Kyle Mayers. They will be isolated in Karachi for ten days and will be supervised by the team physician until negative tests are returned.
The West Indies Twenty20 side is already missing numerous key players for the three-match Twenty20 series, which will be followed by three One-Day Internationals, all of which will be played in Karachi. Kieron Pollard, the white-ball captain, will be absent owing to a hamstring injury acquired during the T20 World Cup, while Andre Russell will be participating in the Big Bash League in Australia.
During a video conference on Sunday, Babar told reporters, “We will strive to maintain the momentum that we began in the (T20) World Cup.” “We won’t be taking them (West Indies) lightly since they didn’t bring their best players.” They’ve competed in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League) and international competitions, so you’ll have to give it your all to beat them.”
