ISLAMABAD – The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the global agency for pilots, has eased the significant Safety Concerns (SSC) for Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), according to a notification.
As a result of this development, the European Union’s ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations is expected to be lifted soon.
The audit report presented by CAA has also been met with approval by ICAO.
Previously, CAA Director General Khaqan Murtaza told the ICAO that the safety audit conducted by its team recently was presented to its validation committee, which cleared it, after which the SSC will be removed and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency will lift the ban soon.
