Tremors from an earthquake were reported in several locations of Pakistan.

According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake registered 5.6 on the Richter scale.
ISLAMABAD: On Friday night, strong earthquake shocks were detected in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and portions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), according to officials.

According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale, with the epicentre located near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border at a depth of 100 kilometres.

However, there have been no early reports of damage.

Strong earthquake shocks struck many sections of K-P earlier this month, including the province capital Peshawar. According to the Met Office, tremors were also reported in Islamabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the centre of the quake occurred near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, at a depth of 180 kilometres with a Richter scale value of 5.3.

Tremors were reported in various districts of K-P, including Swat, Mingora, Chitral, Buner, and Swabi, as well as their surrounding areas.

According to Indian media, the tremors were also felt in sections of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and along the Line of Control (LoC).

Tremors reaching 4.1 on the Richter Scale and occurring at a depth of 15 kilometres were felt in several locations of Karachi in December.

According to Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, it began 15 kilometres south of DHA in Karachi.

Tremors were reported throughout the port city, including North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Baldia, Quaidabad, Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and others.
