Hamza Shahbaz withdraws his motion for acquittal based on the NAB Amendment Ordinance.

LAHORE, Pakistan — Hamza Shahbaz, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), withdrew his acquittal appeal based on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance on Thursday.

The Ashiana Housing, Ramzan Sugar Mills, and money laundering charges have all been heard by the accountability court in Lahore, according to information.

During the hearings, the court granted Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA), an exemption.

In a money laundering investigation, the FIA had previously given data of 45 bank accounts held by Shehbaz Sharif, his sons Hamza and Salman Shahbaz.

According to the concerned authority, the accused might face a seven-year prison term, as well as a fine and property confiscation.

The FIA had already filed a challan against Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz, declaring them main suspects.

Money laundering and kickback claims were dismissed by Shehbaz Sharif. During the hearings in British court, the lawyer for the Daily Mail admitted to not having enough proof, he noted.

The verdict in London, according to the NAB prosecutor, has nothing to do with this case.

The PML-N president also presented a letter of thanks from the Chinese envoy to the court, which the NAB prosecutor objected to.

Mian Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif were accused in a money laundering case by the accountability court on November 11, 2020.

All of the defendants in the case have entered not guilty pleas. While dismissing the anti-graft watchdog’s charges, Shehbaz Sharif said he was being politically targeted.
