A French court has upheld Google’s sentence of 100 million euros for violations of its cookie policy.

PARIS(Reuters) – France’s Conseil d’Etat, the country’s highest administrative court, confirmed a ruling by a watchdog that imposed a 100 million euro ($111.46 million) punishment on Google for violations of its cookies policy.

According to the court, the fine issued by France’s CNIL data protection authorities was proportional.

“As a result, the Conseil d’Etat rejects Google’s request to have the fine lifted,” it stated.
